The Smart Hive: Monitoring the Heartbeat of the Orchard

The Concept: Traditional beekeeping relies on physical inspections, which stress the bees and disrupt the thermal regulation of the colony. Using a Raspberry Pi 5 and the Aura Platform, we monitor the hive 24/7 without ever opening the lid. Why it Matters for Avocado Yield: Pollination is most effective when the colony is at peak strength. By monitoring the Internal Temperature, we can predict the emergence of a new generation of foragers exactly when the Hass trees begin their morning female-cycle opening. The Setup: Thermal Regulation: We use DHT22 sensors to monitor the cluster's ability to maintain heat during Juja’s cooler nights. Weight Analysis: Using HX711 load cells, we measure the daily intake of nectar. This serves as a "Biological Proxy" for how much pollination is actually occurring in the Fuerte blocks. Future AI Integration: We are training a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model to recognize the "Waggle Dance" at the hive entrance to map which part of the orchard the bees are prioritizing.
